A softener exchanges the calcium and magnesium in your feed water for sodium, which does not form scale. It is the right answer wherever hardness has to be genuinely removed rather than simply prevented from depositing.

What to know before you specify

Sizing a softener is not guesswork. It depends on inlet hardness in parts per million, the daily volume of soft water you need, and how long you are willing to go between regenerations. Get any of those wrong and you either buy far more vessel than you need or you run hard water into the plant halfway through the shift.

We size against a water analysis. If you do not have one, we will tell you what to test for and how to draw the sample so the result reflects what actually reaches the plant.

For circuits where the objective is protecting heat transfer surfaces rather than producing soft water for a process, a ScaleOff conditioner is usually the cheaper and simpler choice, because it needs no salt, no drain and no regeneration cycle.

Duplex plant that regenerates without stopping soft water supply

Two vessels working in duty and standby. When the duty vessel exhausts, the controller switches to standby and regenerates the first automatically, so the plant downstream never sees hard water.
