Weldon Engineers manufactures its complete cooling tower range under the POLO brand, from compact 10 TR bottle towers to multi-cell rectangular units of 600 TR and above. Every tower is moulded in fibre reinforced plastic, so it will not rot, rust or corrode the way timber and mild steel towers do.

What to know before you specify

A cooling tower rejects the heat your process cannot keep. Warm return water is distributed over a fill pack, ambient air is drawn through it by an axial fan, and a small fraction of the water evaporates. That evaporation carries the heat away, which is why tower selection is driven by wet bulb temperature rather than dry bulb.

Our engineering team sizes each tower against your actual heat load, flow rate, range and approach, then builds the unit to suit the site. Because we handle design, manufacture, erection, commissioning and after sales service in house, there is one accountable party from enquiry through to annual maintenance.

FRP construction is specified for good reason. The shell is chemically inert, it tolerates the aggressive water chemistry found in chemical plants and distilleries, and the moulded panels arrive light enough to lift into place without heavy cranage. That keeps installation short and structural steelwork modest.

Compact bottle shape tower for tight plant rooms and terraces

The round bottle tower is the most space efficient unit we build. Its circular plan gives even air distribution around the full circumference, so it delivers rated duty from a footprint that a rectangular tower of the same capacity cannot match.

02 FRP Cooling Towers

POLO FRP Square Type Cooling Tower

Modular square tower that banks into multiple cells

The square tower uses cross flow louvres on all four faces and a flat top fan deck. Because the plan is square, cells can be banked side by side to build capacity in stages rather than replacing the tower when the plant grows.

03 FRP Cooling Towers

Multi-cell counter flow tower for large industrial heat loads

For heat loads beyond the practical limit of a single square cell, the rectangular tower places several counter flow cells on a shared basin. Each cell has its own fan and can be isolated for maintenance while the rest of the tower keeps running.

04 FRP Cooling Towers

Site built towers for capacities beyond factory transport limits

Where the duty is too large to ship as moulded assemblies, we erect the tower on site. Panels, fill, mechanical equipment and distribution arrive as a kit and our erection crew builds against the civil basin your contractor has cast.
